World Plumbing Day celebrated at Government ITI Kishtwar under Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada 2026

KISHTWAR, MARCH 11: The Department of Jal Shakti Kishtwar, in collaboration with Government ITI, on Wednesday celebrated World Plumbing Day as part of the Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada.

 

The programme witnessed active participation from the plumber trade trainees. The trainees attended the event in proper uniform and showcased their technical skills related to plumbing, water conservation and maintenance of water supply systems. The event aimed to highlight the vital role played by plumbers in ensuring safe water supply and sanitation in society.

 

The trainees were sensitized to the importance of water conservation and sustainable water management. Demonstrations and discussions were held on modern plumbing practices, leak prevention and efficient water distribution systems.

 

The programme was attended by officers and officials from the Jal Shakti Department along with staff members and instructors of Government ITI Kishtwar.

 

During the event, speakers emphasized that skilled plumbers are essential guardians of water infrastructure and play a key role in maintaining public health and hygiene.

 

The celebration concluded with a pledge by trainees to work with dedication for water conservation and to utilize their technical skills for the betterment of society.

 

Meanwhile, the Water Quality Monitoring Team of District Kishtwar conducted a Field Testing Kit (FTK) demonstration and intensive water testing at Anganwadi Centre Gurian-B. The activity aimed to generate public awareness about safe drinking water practices and ensure regular monitoring of water quality at the community level. This initiative was carried out to help prevent water-borne diseases and promote public health by encouraging timely testing and proper handling of drinking water sources.
