
RAMBAN, MARCH 08: The Indian Army organized an Iftar gathering for local residents in Banihal to promote harmony, mutual respect and communal harmony during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event witnessed participation of around 200 people, including prominent local elders, religious leaders, youth and members of civil society, media and officials from the civil administration.
Army officials from the Banihal camp extended Ramadan greetings to the attendees and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, brotherhood and strong relations between the Army and the local population.
On the occasion, Commanding Officer of 12 Rashtriya Rifles, Colonel Sanjay Kumar Poonia, said that the month of Ramadan holds special significance and the Iftar was organized as a gesture of goodwill for the people of Banihal.
He said Banihal has witnessed a peaceful atmosphere and the Army is planning more programs for girls in the region to encourage their participation in sports and other fields so that they can move forward and achieve success.
Members of the local community and religious figures appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude for the continued efforts of the Indian Army in promoting peace, security and normalcy in the area.
