UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 14: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today handed over sanction orders to beneficiaries under the Karkhandar scheme in the presence of Assistant Director, Handicrafts and Handloom Department Udhampur, Joginder Mangol.
The sanction orders were issued in favour of Shipali Sharma, Master Trainer Udhampur and Sanjay Kumar of Tandar (Chenani) for skill upgradation and the promotion of the traditional Chamba embroidery craft in Udhampur district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the objectives of the scheme, stating that it primarily aims to empower artisans, enhance their skills and strengthen the livelihoods of craftsmen through structured interventions.
She emphasised that such initiatives play a significant role in the revival and preservation of traditional crafts while promoting sustainable self-employment opportunities.
The DC interacted with the beneficiaries, encouraging them to make optimal use of the assistance provided and extending best wishes for their continued success in promoting the craft.
