DLSA Srinagar organizes awareness program on Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Act

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 04: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar conducted an awareness programme under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA, Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in tribal areas of Dara, Faqir Gujri Srinagar.

 

The programme was organized through Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and members of the Samvaad Committee with the aim of educating tribal communities about their legal rights and protections available under the Act.

 

During the programme, the resource person highlighted the key provisions of the Act, emphasizing the safeguards provided to members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes against atrocities, discrimination, and exploitation.

 

The participants were informed about the legal remedies available, the procedure for lodging complaints, and the role of legal aid institutions in ensuring justice to victims.

 

The PLVs actively interacted with the local population and distributed informative material to enhance awareness regarding free legal services available through DLSA Srinagar. The members of the committee stressed the importance of timely reporting of offences and assured necessary legal assistance to the victims.

 

The programme witnessed active participation from members of the tribal community, who appreciated the initiative taken by DLSA Srinagar in spreading legal awareness and empowering marginalized sections of society.

 

DLSA Srinagar reiterated its commitment to continue conducting such awareness programmes to ensure access to justice for all, particularly for vulnerable and marginalized communities.
