BHADERWAH, FEBRUARY 04: In a compassionate intervention, the Social Welfare Department has extended much needed pension support to mentally disabled siblings belonging to an extremely poor family from Chinote, Bhaderwah.
The family has been facing acute hardship since the demise of the head of the household a few years ago, leaving behind his wife and two mentally challenged children—a 28-year-old son and a 25-year-old daughter.
The matter came to the notice of the local administration during an outreach programme and the Social Welfare department was asked to take cognizance. An official of Tehsil Social Welfare Office was deputed to assist the family in arranging the requisite documents and completing the online formalities on the pension portal under the Disability Pension Scheme.
The District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmad promptly sanctioned pension benefits in favour of the siblings. The sanctioned orders were handed over to the beneficiaries today in the presence of their maternal uncle.
