GDC Basohli organizes Road Safety Awareness Rally to mark NRSM- 2026

BASOHLI, JANUARY 31: To mark the observance of National Road Safety Month 2026, the Government Degree College (GDC) Basohli organised a Road Safety Awareness Rally with the objective of generating awareness among the general public regarding road safety measures and the critical importance of following traffic rules.

The rally was organised in consonance with the national theme for the year, “Sadak Suraksha – Jeevan Raksha” (Road Safety – Life Protection), which highlights the vital link between safe roads and the preservation of human life.

The NSS Unit, NCC Unit and the Department of Physical Education coordinated the event under the overall guidance and leadership of the Principal, Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma.

A large number of students, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets participated with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of civic duty. The participants carried placards and banners displaying impactful slogans such as “Road Safety is Life Safety,” “Follow Traffic Rules, Save Lives,” “Speed Thrills but Kills,” and “Wear Helmet, Save Life.”

Through chanting of slogans and direct interaction, the participants actively sensitized the public about safe driving practices, the use of helmets and seat belts, avoidance of over speeding and respect for traffic signals.

The Road Safety Club of the College, comprising Dr. Roshan Lal, Dr. Verinder Singh, Dr. Vaishno Devi, Roshan Lal Sharma (PTI), Prof. Vishal Sharma and Prof. Mega Sharma, played a pivotal role in the successful planning and execution of the event.

The rally concluded with a road safety pledge, wherein all participants vowed to follow traffic rules in their daily lives and to act as responsible citizens by spreading awareness about road safety within their families and communities.

The event received an encouraging and positive response from the general public and succeeded in reinforcing the message that road safety is a shared and collective responsibility.
