
POONCH, JANUARY 31: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the status of ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes being implemented in the district.
At the outset, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Vishal Thapa briefed the meeting about the total number of sanctioned schemes, their current status, including completed and ongoing works and highlighted the challenges being faced during implementation.
A detailed discussion was held on the status of water supply schemes, infrastructure augmentation, groundwater exploration and progress achieved in providing household tap connections. The meeting also discussed proposals seeking extension of timelines for the physical completion of the schemes. The extensions have been sought due to the non-availability of funds.
The DC emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of works once funding issues are resolved.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik; Chief Planning Officer, Shama-un-Ahmed; Superintending Engineer, Vipan Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer, Mushtaq Choudhary; Chief Education Officer, Mukhtar Ahmed; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan; Wildlife Warden Rajouri–Poonch; District Social Welfare Officer, Khalil Ahmed Banday; besides Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, AEEs and JEs from Sub-Divisions Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar, AEE Mechanical, AEs and JEs, AEE and JE Ground Water and other concerned officers.
