SHOPIAN, JANUARY 30: A solemn programme was organised today here at Mini-Secretariat by District Administration Shopian to commemorate the Martyrs’ Day.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta presided over the function and paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhiji and other martyrs on the occasion of Martyrs Day.
The gathering remembered the ideals of truth, non-violence, peace and social harmony to honour the supreme sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs.
The DC alongwith officers and officials observed a two-minute silence in remembrance of the brave souls who laid down their lives for the freedom, unity and integrity of the country.
Martyrs’ Day serves as a reminder of selfless service, patriotism and dedication towards the nation. Martyrs sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India.
ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone; ADC Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR, Shakoor Ahmed Dar, officers and officials from civil administration were present on the occasion.
