
BARAMULLA, JANUARY 29: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a review meeting at Tangmarg to assess preparedness and address issues related to snowfall and winter service delivery in the sub-division.
The meeting was attended by the SDM Gulmarg, Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), ARTO, ASP and officers from various engineering departments.
A comprehensive review of snow clearance operations was undertaken. Officers discussed the challenges faced during recent snowfall episodes and deliberated on measures to overcome these issues more effectively in the future.
During the meeting, the DC stressed the need for improved coordination among departments to ensure timely and efficient snow clearance.
Meanwhile, DC Baramulla directed the concerned departments to ensure adequate salting of roads to prevent the formation and accumulation of ice, particularly on critical and high-traffic routes.
The meeting also reviewed the status of essential services, including the functioning of hospitals, power supply, and water services.
The DC instructed the departments to remain alert and ensure restoration of essential services on a war footing in the event of snowfall.
Issues related to parking management during winter and the mandatory chaining of vehicles during snowfall were also discussed, with emphasis on strict enforcement to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety.
Later, Minga Sherpa inspected the Snow Clearance Control Room at Tangmarg to assess its functioning and interacted with anti-skid chain vendors, issuing necessary directions to ensure uninterrupted availability of services and regulation of rates during winter time.
