
DODA, JANUARY 25: The 16th National Voters’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the FLC Hall, New Administrative Block, DC Office Complex, Doda, under the theme “My India, My Vote – Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy.”
The programme was organized by the District Election Office, Doda. ADDC Doda Roshan Lal was the Chief Guest, while ADC Doda Anil Kumar Thakur graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The event witnessed the presence of senior district officers, representatives of various departments, students from schools and colleges and members of the public.
The programme began with the National Voters’ Day pledge, which was administered by Deputy District Election Officer Doda, Ashraf Pervez.
In his welcome address, Dy DEO congratulated the participants on National Voters’ Day and highlighted the importance of voting in a democratic system. He emphasized that every vote matters and plays a vital role in strengthening democracy.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest ADDC Doda, Roshan Lal extended greetings on National Voters’ Day and stressed the need for free, fair and informed voting without any pressure. He appealed to citizens to uphold democratic values and exercise their right to vote responsibly.
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour ADC Doda, Anil Kumar Thakur appreciated the efforts of DC Doda Harvinder Singh for establishing the FLC Hall and urged citizens, especially youth, to actively participate in the electoral process. He also encouraged eligible citizens to enroll themselves as voters through the Election Commission portal.
Students also delivered speeches and presentations explaining the significance of voting and the objectives of National Voters’ Day, along with patriotic songs focusing on electoral participation.
A Padyatra on the theme “My India, My Vote” was organized from Government Boys School Doda, in which students from various government and private schools participated. The rally culminated at the DC Office Complex, where participants assembled at the FLC Hall.
As part of the celebrations marking 150 glorious years of Vande Mataram, a collective recitation was also held. At the conclusion of the programme, mementos were distributed to officers, officials of the District Election Office, BLOs and representatives from various departments in recognition of their dedication and contribution towards the successful conduct of election.
