Traffic Awareness Drive conducted in Handwara Sub-Division

HANDWARA, JANUARY 20: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, and in supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, joint teams of the Revenue Department and the Police Department on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive traffic awareness drive in all Tehsils of Handwara sub-division.

The drive was led by Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars, who sensitised drivers and motorists about the importance of strictly adhering to traffic rules and regulations. Emphasis was laid on key road safety measures such as safe driving practices, observance of speed limits, mandatory use of seat belts and helmets, and avoidance of rash and reckless driving to reduce road accidents.

The officers also stressed the need to discourage the use of abusive or inappropriate language and encouraged drivers to maintain polite behaviour, moral conduct, and mutual respect towards passengers, pedestrians, and fellow road users. They highlighted that disciplined behaviour and ethical conduct are as important as technical compliance with traffic laws.

During the programme, the Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars interacted with drivers, listened to their grievances, assured appropriate redressal, and encouraged open dialogue to strengthen trust and cooperation between the administration and the transport fraternity.

The initiative aimed to promote road safety, improve driver conduct, and foster a culture of responsible, disciplined, and courteous driving, thereby ensuring safer roads and better public service.
