
ANANTNAG, JANUARY 20: In a significant step towards promoting skill development in the district, a NABARD-funded Computer Laboratory was inaugurated today at the JK Bank-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Anantnag.
The Laboratory was inaugurated by the Assistant General Manager (AGM) NABARD Anantnag, Rouf Zargar, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The event was also attended by the Lead District Manager (LDM) Mohammad Shafi and Director, RSETI, Mushtaq Ahmad.
The newly established computer lab has been set up with financial assistance from NABARD under its Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF). The facility is expected to significantly enhance the quality of training and digital learning for rural youth.
Along with the inauguration of the computer lab, the first batch of 30 candidates was also inaugurated for a 40-day Basic Computer Accounting and Book-Keeping course. The course aims to impart practical computer and accounting skills to unemployed youth, enabling them to improve their employability and explore self-employment opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, the AGM NABARD highlighted the growing importance of skill development in the present economic scenario. He emphasized NABARD’s proactive role in supporting skill development and capacity building initiatives, particularly through RSETIs, to empower rural youth and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The Lead District Manager, Anantnag, spoke in detail about the various credit and financing facilities available with banks for trained youth and aspiring entrepreneurs. He also briefed the participants about the Mission YUVA programme and encouraged trainees to take advantage of government and banking support schemes for starting income-generating activities.
The Director, RSETI Anantnag, elaborated on the role and mandate of RSETIs in fostering self-employment through need-based training programmes. He acknowledged NABARD’s continuous support in strengthening infrastructure and facilitating the conduct of such skill development initiatives.
