
PULWAMA, JANUARY 20: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, today chaired a meeting at Circuit House Pulwama to finalise arrangements for the upcoming Republic Day 2026 celebrations in the district.
At the outset, the Additional Deputy Commissioner briefed the chair on the responsibilities assigned to various officers with regard to venue preparedness, including seating arrangements, sound systems, illumination, transportation and overall logistical management of the event.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also took a detailed review of the Republic Day preparations from the Additional Deputy Commissioners of Sub-Divisions Awantipora and Tral regarding the arrangements being made at the sub-divisional level. He further directed the concerned officers to ensure that Republic Day celebrations are organised in a befitting manner at tehsil, block and panchayat levels as well, so as to ensure widespread public participation and to strengthen the spirit of patriotism across the district.
Highlighting the significance of Republic Day, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of organising vibrant and culturally enriching programmes showcasing local traditions and in line with the theme of Vande Mataram celebrations. He also reiterated the need for strict compliance with the National Anthem protocol and Flag Code to ensure the dignified hoisting and handling of the National Flag.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to organise activities and programmes in accordance with Phase-II of the year-long Action Plan for the commemoration of 150 years of “Vande Mataram”, aimed at further strengthening the spirit of patriotism.
The Health Department was instructed to ensure adequate medical preparedness at the venue, including the deployment of medical personnel, availability of first-aid facilities and ambulance services, especially in view of the prevailing winter conditions.
The meeting was attended by SSP Pulwama, ADC Pulwama,Tral and Awantipora and other senior officers of the district administration, Police and CRPF, along with all district and sectoral officers.
