Secretary DLSA Reasi reviews working of Panel Lawyers

REASI, JANUARY 16: Under the leadership of Chairman (Pr. District and Sessions Judge) Khalil Choudhary, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Reasi Pooja Gupta today chaired a meeting to review the functioning and performance of Panel Lawyers and to assess the implementation of legal aid services at the grassroots level.

The Secretary reviewed case disposal, quality of legal representation, assistance being provided to beneficiaries and adherence to the objectives of NALSA and J&K LSA. Stress was laid on strengthening coordination among the Panel Lawyers and improving outreach activities and ensuring prompt and effective legal aid delivery.

Meanwhile, a series of awareness programs were organised in different parts of the District. The PLVs organized camps at villages Gran Morh and Karua to acquaint locals about the Government Schemes meant for women empowerment, welfare of senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities etc. An awareness camp on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was held at Dera Baba.

The PLVs sensitized the participants about flagship welfare schemes related to social security, health, education, women and child welfare and other public benefit initiatives. Emphasis was laid on preventing gender discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for girls. The participants were also informed about the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing free legal aid and assistance to eligible persons.

Similarly, an awareness program was at Mahore to educate the public about the benefits of Lok Adalat. The PLVs informed the participants about the concept, functioning and advantages of Lok Adalat as an effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
