Giving an important statement, former Chief Minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President Ghulam Nabi Azad has appealed to the central government to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir soon.
He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir still remember the era when the administration was transparent and development was given priority. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that during our tenure, we got statehood for three states like Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh.
The demand for statehood is not a new thing, but it is the democratic and constitutional expectation of the people. ” He further said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir still remember the “Azad Yuga”, when there was stability in administrative work and the pace of development was seen. “Restoration of statehood is not only a constitutional right, but also a symbol of the identity and self-respect of Jammu and Kashmir.
This statement of Ghulam Nabi Azad has come at a time when the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been concerned about the restoration of statehood for a long time. The central government converted Jammu and Kashmir from a state to a union territory by removing Article 370 on 5 August 2019.
Azad also made it clear that his party will continue to raise the voice of the people in a democratic manner. He appealed to the central government to give the status of state restoration to the people as soon as possible.
