Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed strong opposition to the construction of a 113 km long canal to supply water to Punjab-Haryana and Rajasthan. He clearly said that there is drought like situation in our state, why should we give water to Punjab. On Friday, Omar was answering the questions of journalists. He said that I will never allow this. During this, he also criticized PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti and People’s Conference leader Sajjad Lone on the issue of reservation and accused them of doing politics. Omar Abdullah also inaugurated the Raabta office in Jammu on Friday. During this, while talking to journalists, he said that we will first use our water for ourselves. There is a drought like situation in Jammu. Punjab already has water under the Indus Water Treaty. He expressed displeasure that did they give us water when we needed it. Let us tell you that after the terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam, the Indus Water Treaty has been stopped, after which there is a constant demand to divert the river water.
