Prime Minister Modi Visits Air India Crash Site in Ahmedabad; Reviews Rescue Operations with Ministers and Officials

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday morning and visited the crash site of the ill-fated Air India flight in the Meghani Nagar area. During his visit, he met with the victims of the devastating crash and also interacted with the sole survivor, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.

Accompanying the Prime Minister were Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol. Senior local officials also briefed the Prime Minister on the sequence of events and the aftermath of the tragedy.

PM Modi personally inspected the area where the aircraft went down, including the hostel building it crashed into. At the crash site, he took a detailed assessment of the rescue and relief operations carried out in the aftermath of the disaster.

The crash of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner claimed the lives of 266 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Of the deceased, 241 were onboard the aircraft, while the remaining victims were on the ground at the time of the crash in Meghani Nagar.

The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the gravity of the incident and the government’s commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation and comprehensive relief to the affected families.
