“For 10 Seconds It Felt Like the Plane Was Stuck, Then It Sped Up…”: Sole Survivor of Ahmedabad Plane Crash Shares Harrowing Experience

Ramesh Vishwas Kumar, the sole survivor of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, is currently undergoing treatment at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Recounting the horrifying moments of the crash, Ramesh shared his emotional ordeal, saying, “For a few seconds, it felt like the plane got stuck… then it picked up speed. Everything happened right before my eyes. I still can’t believe how I survived.”

In a deeply emotional narration, he added, “After the crash, I thought I was going to die too. When I regained consciousness, I realized I was still alive. I unfastened my seatbelt and tried to get out. Right in front of my eyes, I saw the air hostesses and several passengers perish.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Civil Hospital on Friday and personally met Ramesh Vishwas to check on his recovery. During their interaction, Ramesh shared a full account of the terrifying crash. Earlier, PM Modi had visited the crash site and was briefed by ministers and senior officials about the circumstances and the immediate response.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also visited the hospital on Thursday to meet the injured and spoke with Ramesh Vishwas. He was briefed by doctors on Ramesh’s condition and assured him of the best possible medical care and full support. Shah expressed profound grief over the devastating incident.

266 Dead in Catastrophic Crash

The Air India flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London, took off from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM on Thursday. According to official figures, the aircraft was carrying 242 individuals, including passengers and crew members. The passengers included 169 Indian nationals as well as citizens of the UK, Portugal, and Canada.

In total, 266 people lost their lives, including Gujarat’s former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Of the victims, 241 were onboard the aircraft, while the remaining casualties were people present at the crash site in the Meghani Nagar area when the plane went down.

The magnitude of the disaster has left the entire nation in mourning, with both central and state governments actively engaged in providing assistance and investigating the cause of the crash.
