New Delhi: In the wake of continued tensions with Pakistan, the Indian government has intensified efforts to strengthen the country’s defence capabilities. As part of this strategy, additional allocations to the defence budget are also under consideration. Taking a significant step in this direction, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a major indigenous defence project.

Rajnath Singh’s Strategic Move

In a landmark decision aimed at enhancing India’s air combat capabilities, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday approved a mega project for the development of an indigenous fifth-generation fighter aircraft. This next-generation Deep Penetration Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is set to be developed for the Indian Air Force (IAF) under an approved “execution model.”

The AMCA project is a key part of India’s broader ambition to modernize its aerial defence forces. Designed with advanced stealth features and medium weight capability, the fighter jet is intended to significantly bolster India’s air power and strategic deterrence.
