BSF to Name Border Posts in Samba After Martyred Soldiers; One Post to be Named ‘Sindoor’

Jammu: In the wake of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindoor, tensions escalated between India and Pakistan, resulting in a prolonged exchange of cross-border fire. Amid these developments, the Border Security Force (BSF) has made a significant announcement in honor of its fallen personnel.

Addressing a press conference, BSF Inspector General (Jammu Frontier), Shashank Anand, revealed that several forward posts in the Samba sector will be renamed to commemorate BSF personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. One of the posts will be named ‘Sindoor’, symbolizing the valiant resistance during Operation Sindoor.

Highlighting the role of BSF’s female personnel in the operation, IG Anand stated that Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari led one of the forward posts, playing a key role alongside Constables Manjeet Kaur, Malkit Kaur, Jyoti, Sampa, Swapna, and others. These women fought courageously on the frontlines, countering aggressive infiltration attempts by Pakistan.

IG Anand also confirmed that during the operation, BSF lost Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, Constable Deepak Kumar, and Indian Army Naik Sunil Kumar due to drone strikes and cross-border shelling from Pakistan. He added that BSF has proposed renaming two border posts in the Samba sector after these martyrs, while another will be designated as ‘Sindoor’, in tribute to their sacrifice.

Speaking to the media, the IG emphasized that Pakistani posts had initiated unprovoked firing on Indian positions. However, BSF was fully prepared and responded decisively. “Our retaliatory action caused significant damage to several Pakistani positions across the border,” he said. “Importantly, we suffered no losses during the counter-attack.”

This initiative underscores BSF’s commitment to honoring the bravery and sacrifice of its personnel while reinforcing India’s resolve to secure its borders against external threats.
