J&K Encounter: Soldier Martyred in Fierce Gunfight in Kishtwar’s Chhatroo Forest, Operation Continues on 2nd Day

Jammu/Kishtwar, A soldier was martyred during a fierce encounter between security forces and terrorists in the dense forests of the Chhatroo area of Kishtwar on Thursday. Acting on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the region, security forces launched a massive cordon and search operation. Reports indicate that at least four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.

The joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police continued into the second day on Friday. Drones and helicopters are being deployed to aid in the search and neutralization of the terrorists in the forested Singhpora area. Top officials are on the ground, closely monitoring the situation and guiding the ongoing anti-terror operation.

Director General of Police (DGP) R.R. Swain visited the Singhpora-Chhatroo region on Thursday to assess the situation firsthand. A police spokesperson stated that the DGP reviewed the counter-terrorism efforts and examined the operational strategies being implemented.

The operation remains active as security forces tighten the noose around the suspected militants in the remote and rugged terrain.
