Government’s big decision amid tension with Pakistan, change in National Security Advisory Board; Former RAW Chief becomes Chairman

Jammu: Amid India’s tension with Pakistan, India has taken a big decision. The government has made changes in the National Security Advisory Board. Former RAW chief Alok Joshi has been appointed its chairman.
Six more members have also been included in the board. It includes former Western Air Commander Air Marshal PM Sinha, former Southern Army Commander Lieutenant General AK Singh and Rear Admiral Monty Khanna, retired officers from military services. Rajiv Ranjan Verma and Manmohan Singh are two members retired from the Indian Police Service. B. Venkatesh Verma is a retired IFS in the seven-member board.
This decision comes after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 innocent civilians, including a Nepali citizen, lost their lives and many were injured. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, this decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.
The NSAB is a group of eminent persons from outside the government whose main job is to provide an analysis to the National Security Council and recommend solutions and policy options for the issues raised by it.

High level meeting underway after Pahalgam attack

In the wake of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). This was followed by a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). There will also be a full cabinet meeting, the details of which will be given after 3 pm.
