Jammu: The Jammu Police has solved the case of high-profile robbery at Anand Jewelers shop in Greater Kailash area and arrested three people including a lawyer. The robbery was planned by a lawyer along with his two accomplices.
On February 1, two bike-borne youths looted about 1.5 kg of gold jewellery, worth about Rs 1.50 crore, from a jewellery showroom in broad daylight. CCTV footage showed the two youths wearing black-glass helmets, threatening a woman with a knife and fleeing after looting.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SP City South Ajay Sharma, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Sunil Singh and former outpost in-charge Greater Kailash Wasim Bhatti revealed that the lawyer, who is a resident of Bishnah and a member of a political party, had planned the crime.
His acquaintance with the gold merchant helped him gather crucial information about the shop’s security and layout. The police arrested the three accused and recovered some of the looted jewellery as well as the motorcycle used in the crime. Efforts are on to recover further items.
