Jammu: A situation of conflict seems to be brewing once again between the elected government and the Raj Bhavan over the transfer of 48 officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service in Jammu and Kashmir two days ago. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has the authority to transfer JKAS officers.

It is noteworthy that on April 1, when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and most of the senior administrative officers were busy in the celebrations organized on the occasion of Eid, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha issued an order related to the transfer and appointment of 48 officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service. More than 12 magistrates were included in the list.

Although the state government has not publicly objected to these transfers, the Chief Minister has taken it completely unkindly and has called a meeting of all the MLAs and all the MLAs of the alliance partners on Friday.

National Conference Chief Whip Mubarak Gul on Friday asked all the MLAs of the National Conference and all the allies of the alliance to attend a meeting at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Srinagar at 11 am on April 4, 2025.
This meeting will be led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Mubarak Gul said in a conversation with one of National Newspaper that the meeting will discuss issues related to the functioning of the elected government, the Waqf Amendment Bill and the second phase of the session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly which will begin on April 7.
