Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years, voting in three phases; counting of votes on October 4

Delhi 16 Aug 2024: The election bugle has sounded in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. According to the announcement of the Election Commission, assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases from September 18, while Haryana will have a single phase election on October 1.

Elections in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir

The Election Commission said that voting will be held on September 18, September 25 and October 1 for 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

The last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in November-December 2014.

This will be the first assembly election in the erstwhile state since the repeal of Article 370 in 2019.

There will be a total of 11838 polling stations in Jammu and Kashmir. As always, separate women’s polling stations will be set up.

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the voter list of Jammu and Kashmir will come on August 20.

Nominations for the first phase will be filed from August 27, for the second phase from September 5 and for the third phase from September 12.
