Jammu: Five martyrs, including two army captains, who were martyred during the encounter at Bajimal in Rajouri, were paid tearful tributes at the Military Hospital in Jammu on Friday.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, State Police DGP RR Swain, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief Secretary Dr AK Mehta and senior officials of the Army and Air Force paid tribute to the brave soldiers for their supreme sacrifice. Among those martyred in the Rajouri encounter are two soldiers from Uttar Pradesh, one from Uttarakhand, one from Jammu and Kashmir and one from Karnataka. These include Captain MV Pranjal of 63 Rashtriya Rifles (Mangalore, Karnataka), Captain Shubham Gupta of 9 Para (Agra), Havildar Commando Abdul Majid of 9 Para (Ajot, Poonch), Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht (Halli Padli, Nainital Uttarakhand) and Paratrooper Sachin. Laur (Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh) were sacrificed.
The mortal remains of Captain MV Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht and Paratrooper Sachin Laur were given the last salute in Jammu. From here the mortal remains of the martyrs will be sent to their native village. At the same time, the mortal remains of Havildar Commando Abdul Majid of 9 Para was given the last salute by the senior army officers in Poonch.
