President of India, Draupadi Murmu, is set to visit the Kashmir University on October 11, 2023, where she will serve as the chief guest for the institution’s 20th annual Convocation.
The event will witness President Murmu conferring degrees to over 53,000 candidates from various academic disciplines. As per the schedule, President Murmu will also deliver the Convocation address to the assembly of graduates and dignitaries at the Convocation Complex of the University of Kashmir, Hazratbal, Srinagar.
The grand event is scheduled to mark the culmination of the academic journey for students who have completed their courses from 2021 to mid-2023. As per the official figures a staggering 53,523 candidates will be conferred their degrees during this momentous occasion
Among these recipients, 46,812 will be awarded undergraduate degrees, 5,509 will receive postgraduate degrees, while 572 will be conferred with doctoral degrees (Ph.D.), and an additional 10 candidates will earn Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degrees. On occasion, around 320 students, comprising 210 girls and 110 boys, will be honoured with gold and silver medals, along with cash prizes.
