ACT RESPONSIBLY

ACT RESPONSIBLY

The message from the Chief Secretary for the employees’ fraternity of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir was loud and clear that no one engaged in government service should question or criticize the policies of the government publicly and whosoever would take this kind of undue liberty will have to face action under law. This is something which is not new because the service rules do bound the employees of the government sector to show responsibility with regard to their conduct and never indulge in any sort of behaviour which could be categorized as uncalled for or unwarranted. Reportedly, Jammu and Kashmir administration has directed all administrative secretaries to monitor the social media networks to identify employees who are making unfavourable comments on government policies and issue notices to them. This action by the Chief Secretary is imperative to ensure discipline among the employees and also for maintaining the required decorum as employees being part and parcel of government cannot act arbitrarily as was the case of several of them in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir leading to severe actions against them also in the past. Under no circumstances the government can allow employees to have such behaviour which might prove detrimental to the image of the government as this could lead to unrest among the common masses, which is unacceptable by all means. It is pertinent to mention that some government employees have been critical of the government policies and achievements and often make unfavourable comments on social media platforms thus forcing the LG Manoj Sinha’s administration to take appropriate action and monitor the social media networks regularly and issue notices to the defaulters. Already, the concerned district magistrates have flashed messages to all district and sectoral officers and directed them to sensitise their subordinate staff about the directions till the time the General Administration Department ( GAD) comes out with a necessary circular. As the matter is of utmost importance therefore the employees should mend their ways as soon as possible and not indulge in such behaviour which might cost them dearly at the later stage.
