MUCH NEEDED STEP
CRPF’s standing instructions to its cavalry of over 3 lakh personnel including officers to desist from commenting on controversial issues on social media and other public platforms is precisely the right step for containing the unnecessary confrontations among the belt force’s personnel and with those who have some sort of interface with the brave jawans engaged in internal security duties all across the country including the tumultuous J&K. Although service rules of almost all the jobs in the country as far as government sector is concerned mandatorily ask the work force to keep off from indulging into discussions which are political in nature or other disputable matters but as the social media is new to the world, at times ugly instances do occur after people in government jobs take undue liberties by commenting on issues which are inflammable, communal or of political in nature leading to conflicts and crises. The CRPF therefore has taken the lead by reminding its large workforce to maintain a safe distance from such things and concentrate more on jobs for which they have been engaged in this valiant belt force. Surely the concerned ministry deserves kudos for not creating a scene in the matter and giving appropriate guidelines to its personnel to act maturely and as per the service rules to ward off troubles and controversies. It is pertinent to mention that the country’s largest Central force has issued fresh social media guidelines for its personnel, asking them not to comment on issues relating to personal grievances and political matters that may haunt them on a later date. What an ideal approach by the government to rectify the things without creating any kind of confusion or mess. The other institutions and departments should also follow the pursuit to end the frequent ugly spats between employees on controversial topics after sharing messages and commenting on the same as veracity for many of the messages these days is also ambiguous as fake news is ruling the roost. In the new guidelines, force’s personnel have also been asked not to reveal the exact location of their postings and nature of work if working in a sensitive ministry or organization. In nutshell, it is a laudable step and people in general should also follow the same as wasting time on social media often leads them to nowhere except raising their adrenaline levels forcing them to lose their cool.
