J&K ON MARK
The LG Manoj Sinha’s administration has been moving in the right direction to steer J&K to new heights of progress offering all the modern amenities to the people who in the past were subjected to deprivation and denial for reasons which are known to one and all in the country as well as abroad. In yet another pragmatic move the government in J&K is mulling to have NITI Aayog-like body to frame long-term policies and programmes pertaining to development and planning besides other issues concerning the Union Territory. Reportedly, the new body will act as handholding for NITI Aayog and for this the concerned officials are already on job to devise the mechanism in consultations with concerned departments of Jammu and Kashmir and NITI Aayog. It is likely that the new body will come into existence early next year as its composition and tasks have to be formally approved by the J&K Government in consultations with the NITI Aayog. This initiative will differentiate the UT of J&K from the other similar units in the country as there are very few states and UTs having such provisions and probably will help the region to progress by leaps and bounds in the coming years as this is the sole motive behind this endeavour of the government. The nomenclature of the aforesaid body could be described in few words as it will include eight to ten experts from various fields holding important positions in IIT, IIM, Agriculture University, Higher Education, Finance, Planning and other fields concerning the Aayog’s mandate. Although things are yet to be finalized with regard to different functions of the upcoming body but looking into LG Manoj Sinha’s earlier initiatives in the UT of J&K, one can say with affirmation that this move will also prove to be a game changer as far as development of the region is concerned and the people should rest assured that every step which the J&K Government is about to take will add more comfort and convenience into their lives because it is for the first time in the last over 70 years that a dispensation is working in such a prolific manner that all its decisions and moves are proving bountiful for each and every section of the society with no traces of discrimination or prejudice, which earlier was the main issue which the people used to confront and complain.
