SIA seizes many properties of Jamaat in several districts of the Valley

Tightening the noose further on the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), the State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday attached properties belonging to the organization in several parts of Kashmir, including Ganderbal, Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla. Investigation is going on in many cases against the institution.

Earlier, in the last week of November, SIA had taken action and seized properties worth Rs 90 crore belonging to the organization in Anantnag district. These included agricultural land, gardens, shopping complexes, offices as well as residential structures. The DC of Anantnag declared these properties illegal on the recommendations of the SIA under Section 8 of the UAPA.

In these, a two-storey building has been built in one kanal four marla land. It housed the office of the Flah-e-Aam Trust (FAT). Apart from this, survey number 1299/956/496 in the name of JEI at Danjipora, 16 and 10 marlas of land along with two-storied houses built in 12 marlas at Shangas in Anantnag were seized.

Even before this, the SIA team has raided five tehsils of the district. Officials associated with SIA told that the name will be removed by amending the revenue documents also so that funds are not available for terrorist activities. This action has been taken to destroy anti-national elements and terror networks so that the entire ecosystem can be destroyed.
