Jammu’s TADA court on Wednesday issued production warrant against separatist leader Yasin Malik. Giving this information, CBI lawyer Monica Kohli said that taking strong note of Malik’s non-appearance in the court today in the case of killing of Indian airmen on January 25, 1990, the TADA court issued production warrant to Yasin Malik. Have been asked to appear in the next hearing to be held on 22 December.
Remember that on January 25, 1990, there was an incident of killing of Air Force personnel in Srinagar city. Five Indian Air Force personnel, including Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, were allegedly killed by Malik and his accomplices at Rawalpora in Srinagar in a well-planned operation. The CBI probing the case said that Yasin Malik is the main accused in the murder of five Indian Air Force personnel. He was arraigned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) before the TADA court in Jammu on 31 August 1990. Malik was also arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the terror funding case. Malik is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
Yasin was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special NIA court on May 25 this year. So far Yasin has been sentenced to life imprisonment in two cases and 10 years in 10 cases. All the sentences will run concurrently. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 10 lakh was also imposed on him.
Not only this, Yasin Malik is also facing trial for the kidnapping of Rubia Sayeed, daughter of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and sister of Mehbooba Mufti in 1989, besides the murder of Air Force officers. The hearing of this case is to be held in the TADA Court of Jammu on 24th November i.e. tomorrow, Thursday. Let us tell you that while returning home in 1989, Rubia was abducted. Instead, Yasin’s organization demanded the release of five terrorists. Accepting this demand, the government had released the five terrorists, but after that investigation was started in the matter. The investigation was handed over to the CBI. The CBI has filed charge sheets in both the cases. Both the cases are being heard in the TADA Court of Jammu.
