Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Ramdas Athawale and Rajya Sabha member Engineer Ghulam Ali Khatana met Lt Governor Manoj Sinha separately at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. A Raj Bhavan spokesperson said that the Union Minister of State and the Lieutenant Governor discussed various issues related to backward classes, senior citizens, drug abuse and other special schemes aimed at social and economic empowerment of the people. The Union Minister of State also shared his views on the current development scenario in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Engineer Ghulam Ali Khatana, Rajya Sabha member and senior leader of Gujjar-Bakkarwal community, discussed various issues related to public welfare during his meeting with the Lieutenant Governor. He appreciated the work being done by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration for the development of Gujjar-Bakkarwal, Pahari and other backward classes in Jammu and Kashmir. He also thanked the Lieutenant Governor on behalf of the entire group for the employment and skill development schemes started for the youth of the tribal sections.
While discussing the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir with Engineer Ghulam Ali Khatana, the Lieutenant Governor said that the Union Territory Government is continuously working on all fronts to make every section of the society equal stakeholders in the development process of Jammu and Kashmir. We are taking all the benefits of government schemes to the last person in the queue with an aim to ensure inclusive and equitable growth for all.
