Peoples Democratic Party President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti targeted the central government while addressing a rally in support of apple traders at Aglar Shopian in South Kashmir. He said that earlier you turned Kashmir into an open prison and now our economic condition is being ruined. If the movement of trucks on the highway is not ensured without any restrictions, then I will sit on a dharna along with my party workers. I will block the highway.
The PDP president had reached Shopian to take care of the apple traders. As soon as he reached there, the apple traders opened the box of their troubles in front of him. He said that trucks laden with apples are being stopped on the highway for several days. His apple lying in the fruit market is getting spoiled. Not only farmers, traders are also worried. This is directly affecting their financial system. Till now the traders have lost crores of rupees. If the movement of apple trucks is still not ensured, then this figure of loss will increase.
Apple traders appealed to Mehbooba Mufti to place their problems in front of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Once they ensure smooth movement of trucks, their troubles will be reduced. On this, Mehbooba started cursing the policies of the state and central government. He said that the people of Kashmir are being targeted. Be it the state administration or the central government, everything in Kashmir claims to be fine, but the truth is that everything is not right here.
Mehbooba warned that if better arrangements are not made to send trucks laden with apples to other states, she herself along with her party leaders and workers will sit on a dharna on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. He asked the state administration and the central government to understand the problems of the people here and take effective steps to solve them. Otherwise they will be forced to take the path of agitation.
