SYSTEMATICALLY ERADICATING CORRUPTION

SYSTEMATICALLY ERADICATING CORRUPTION

As Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has vowed to root out corruption from Jammu and Kashmir, the administration is moving steadily to systematically eradicate all the channels and ways allowing dishonesty in the administration which is making the system hollow and denting the interests of the gullible people. In this context, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken a major decision of shifting the entire staff of Services Selection Board (SSB) including six Under Secretaries, five Legal Officers and many other senior officials following alleged leakage of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) Sub Inspectors’ exam besides that of Financial Accounts Assistants (FAAs) and JE Civil. The Jammu and Kashmir before the abrogation of Article 370 and prior to bifurcation into two Union Territories was known to be one of the most corrupt states in the country and cases akin to aforementioned were very common. As there is old adage ‘Old habits die hard’, the corruption surfaced in the recruitment process under the SSB realm is the testimony to the fact that whatever has been alleged in the past was not totally false as still the ‘remnants’ are proving the fact that there was something fishy in recruitment processes taken place before August 2019. As the incumbent regime is deadly against the corruption, the reports published in the media are hinting at removal of some, or even all, Members of the SSB, all of whom are Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) officers. This of course will be a necessary step by the LG’s administration because recent developments after the issue of paper leakage came to fore have raised apprehensions among the masses about transparency and accountability of recruitment process in the Union Territory. The matter is being probed by the premier investigation agency CBI and sooner than later the culprits will be brought to book as the LG Administration is impartial and will not spare the guilty. It is now matter of time that justice will be delivered and the genuine aspirants will be sieved to get the jobs meant for the most deserving as JKP’s SIs re-exam has been ordered and reportedly, the call on fate of two exams including FAAs and JE Civil is likely to be taken next week by the Government. People should be reassured that government will ensure fair deal to one and all and that is the final word under LG’s administration.
