NOT AGAIN
The Jammu Administration has taken a very necessary step by making face masks compulsory after the spike in the COVID-19 cases as showing lethargy can prove dangerous and the people in the region can’t afford again confront the lethal virus. It is pertinent to mention that looking at the gravity of the situation with regard to rising number of COVID-19 cases the Jammu district administration has made use of face mask compulsory at all public places. Though the order has been issued a bit late following similar directions in the three districts in Kashmir Division including Srinagar but it is good that the step has been taken because prevention is always better than cure and in the case of merciless coronavirus still there is no concrete treatment available and the medical experts are relying on either vaccination or steroids which are otherwise considered as harmful due to their side effects. The Deputy Commissioner Jammu in capacity of Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority has ordered that use of face masks shall be compulsory at all public places in Jammu district with immediate effect till further orders.
The school managements, shopping malls, cinema theatres and other complexes have also been asked to adhere to the aforesaid directive because the dangerous virus is again rising thus posing a great risk to people having co-morbidities. What is shocking is the fact that the Jammu and Kashmir reported record 333 Covid positive cases in last 24 hours, a day before yesterday. It is pertinent to mention that a coiuple of days before Srinagar administration also going tough against the new surge in COVID-19 cases which has sounded alarm bells in the circles meant to stop its transmission has also mandated face masks necessary and advised for social distancing. The move came after Bandipora and Ganderbal also took similar steps to stop spiraling of the virus. The government should keep track of the virus and take the necessary precautions like the one taken by the four districts as these are quite important to save people from the deadly infection that has wreaked havoc around the world.
