J&K Police cracks LeT network, four arrested

Jammu, July 18: In a major breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have uncovered a network of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists operating in the bordering Rajouri and Poonch districts.

They also arrested four terrorists of the outfit along with arms and ammunition.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, while addressing a press conference here this evening told reporters that LeT commander for Rajouri, Talib Hussain Shah alias Abu Ahmad of Draj, Kotranka, Rajouri, who remained instrumental in major terrorist activities and incidents in Rajouro-Poonch areas over last 3 years was arrested along with his associates.

“He was tasked to carry out terror attacks on Security Forces, Minority community and prominent political figures of the area,” he said.

Singh added that Talib and his associates have been found to be involved in five criminal and terrorism related cases and after his arrest and on subsequent disclosures, security forces recovered three UBGL grenades, one AK 47 rifle, four AK 47 magazines, (Containing 120 Armour piercing rounds), two Pistols, five Pistol Magazines, one Glock pistol silencer, 40 Chinese Pistol rounds, one 2-kg IED, one 5-kg IED, five Remotes of IED, four pressure mines.

The ADGP added that investigation has brought to fore that Talib was involved in five major incidents of Drone dropping-collection in which he received arms, ammunition, explosives and Indian currency from Pakistan.

“Moreover, Talib received two groups of terrorists who were transported from Kashmir to Rajouri by his associate Mohammad Shabir of Draja and one of these terrorists, Faisal Ahmad Dar of Pulwama was apprehended along with Talib while two other terrorist associates are still active in higher reaches of Rajouri-Poonch,” he added.

Efforts are on to arrest or neutralize them, said the top cop adding, “with the arrest of Talib and his associates, Targain murder case, Kotranka blast, firing on Ranjeet Singh, Anus jhuggi grenade and Shahpur grenade cases have been solved.”

“This is a major blow to the terror outfit LeT,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, the ADGP said that another LeT module was working under One Altaf Hussain Shah of Draj, who has been arrested for his involvement in separated cases and added, “The LeT operative has been found involved in a grenade lobbying case on the residence of BJP functionary Jasbir Singh of Khandli in which minor child Veer Singh,2 years, lost his life.”

The action was carried out by Altaf Shah on the instructions of Pak based handler Mohammad Qasim alias Suleiman of Mahore, presently in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and all these operations were possible only due to active support and timely intelligence of the local people of the District, he said.
