TERRORISM ON LAST LEG
The number of terrorists killed in the Valley so far this year has risen to 99 with three of them neutralized in Pulwama encounter a day before. The way the security forces are combating terrorism, it could be said safely that the terrorism is on last leg and those who are still indulging in terror acts are part of residual terrorism, and sooner than later the remaining lot will also be taken care of by either eliminating them or putting them behind bars. It is good that the security forces are accomplishing anti-terror operations in a perfectly synergized manner with almost negligible collateral damage. The scenario in Valley has also been changed with maximum number of people cooperating government agencies to root out terrorism as many encounters with terrorists in the past have been carried out after the support of people, who are fed up of this gun culture and wanted to live a life full of peace, dignity and opportunities to flourish and prosper. In the same context, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Reportedly, acting on specific information regarding the presence of terrorists in Pulwama’s Drabgam village, a cordon-and-search operation was launched by the security forces in the area resulting into encounter and the rest is history, as three terror mongers of the proscribed terror outfit LeT were neutralized. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles and a pistol, were recovered from the encounter site. The security forces deserve kudos for carrying out such operations in a clean manner with no damage on their side. The other thing which makes this encounter more significant is the fact that these terrorists were part of ploy to spread fear psychosis in the Valley through attacking soft targets. Exactly speaking, they were involved in the recent killing of police personnel in Pulwama. It is necessary that the security forces keep on doing the good work on ground like the one in Pulwama because this will form the basis of lasting peace in the region and return of normalcy.
