Chief Justice of India (CJI NV Ramana) NV Ramana on Saturday said that peace will prevail only when the dignity and rights of the people are recognized and protected. The CJI said this in his address after laying the foundation stone of a new High Court building complex in Srinagar. He also said that laws alone are not enough to build tradition. For this, people of high ideals need to breathe life into the framework of the law.
Chief Justice of India, CJI NV Ramana, NV Ramana also said that there will be anarchy if justice is not given. This will threaten and destabilize the judiciary as people will go through the extra judicial system. Peace will prevail only when the dignity and rights of the people are recognized and protected. In his address, the CJI also referred to poets Ali Jawad Zaidi and Rifat Sarfarosh.
Chief Justice of India (CJI NV Ramana) NV Ramana said that according to poet Raja Basu, admirer of Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir is a confluence of three great religions…Hindu, Buddhist and Islam. It is this confluence that is at the heart of our plurality that needs to be sustained and nurtured. He stressed that for the functioning of a healthy democracy it is essential that people feel that their rights and dignity are protected.

Today people driven by high ideals need to breathe life into the framework of laws. The common man always considers the judiciary as the ultimate custodian of his rights and freedoms. To maintain this belief, judges and judicial officers play a very important role in the constitutional system.
