SITUATION SELF-EXPLANATORY
After experiencing so many ups and downs, the people of the country especially those living in J&K are wise enough to judge and gauge by themselves whether the situation has improved in the newly carved out Union Territory post abrogation of Article 370 or it is same like the times when tourists never dared to plan a trip to Valley even in their wildest dreams. The stance of so-called Kashmir centric political parties including NC and PDP about BJP Government spreading false narratives about normalcy in Kashmir is not justified because normalcy claims are hard to believe if the situation on ground has not been improved. Every now and then, the PDP chief and the NC leadership is found decrying the BJP dispensation at the centre and the J&K administration over the issue of restoration of peace and prosperity in J&K. The big question here is that how can government mislead people if the reality on ground is not conducive? The simple parameter which speaks of the change in situation in Kashmir is lakhs of tourists from across the country and a few from foreign lands are presently enjoying the splendid beauty of the paradise on earth with hotels, guest houses and other places of lodging running out of vacant rooms as all these facilities are packed and people finding it difficult to get even dormitories to spend nights as days in Kashmir during this season are pleasant especially when the threat of guns and goons has gone with the wind. The BJP government led by PM Narendra Modi has done its job, nevertheless Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah or for that matter even seasoned Dr Farooq Abdullah are not interested in noticing this change as this is something not in their favour forcing them to look the other way around and concoct stories about turmoil still continuing in the UT. What is laudable is the fact that BJP government at the centre and the LG’s Administration in J&K are consistently working together to make upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra a great success as reportedly around 7-8 lakh devotees are expected to come to J&K UT to pay obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva as the same is being organised after a gap of two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
