It is good that the government is showing zero tolerance against all the entities which are trying to dent the interests of the country in any way. The latest initiative in this context is war against those who are using the internet and other mediums to hit India in various ways and the reason behind blocking the 16 YouTube channels is also the same. It is pertinent to mention that the Union Government has blocked 16 YouTube channels, including six operating from Pakistan, and a Facebook account for spreading disinformation related to India’s national security, foreign relations and public order, a step which was necessary to safeguard the interests of the country. As far as new world order is concerned where relations between countries are changing with pace as interests between countries have become dynamic especially after the Russia-Ukraine conflict therefore every issues has to be monitored minutely to ensure that no one can cause harm to the country because it is very difficult in today’s world that which entity is foe and which is not. As far as India is concerned it has to deal with two ‘permanent’ foes viz Pakistan and China, because many wars have been fought between these countries and in a way the situation still is precarious. Under such circumstances, India cannot take any kind of chances and allow the enemies to dent its interests. Earlier also India has blocked 22 YouTube news channels, 18 Indian and four Pakistani for spreading disinformation about the country’s national security and foreign policies. It is good that India is not allowing entities to act against the country as it is vital to save the interests of the country. The 16 channels which the country has blocked this time and one acebook account reportedly had a cumulative viewership of over 68 crore and were spreading false and unverified information to create panic, incite communal disharmony and disturb public order in India. Multiple YouTube channels were used to post fake news on various subjects such as the Indian Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir, etc. The content ordered to be blocked also included certain anti-India content posted from channels operated in a coordinated manner from Pakistan. Come what may, the government should maintain complete vigil on such anti-India activities to safeguard country’s interests.
