Killing Kashmiri Hindus: Hearing of Bitta Karate case adjourned till May 10

The hearing in the case of Farooq Dar alias Bitta Karate, accused of killing Hindus in Kashmir, has been postponed till May 10. After 31 years of the massacre, the petition filed by the relatives of Late Satish Tikku seeking reopening of the case filed against Bitta Karate was to be heard today on Saturday, 16 April, but due to the judge hearing in the Srinagar Sessions Court being on leave. The hearing has been adjourned till next month.

Remember that Satish Tikku was also murdered by Bitta Karate during the same massacre. This thing has also been admitted by Bitta Karate himself during an interview. The leader of the separatist organization JKLF, Bitta Karate, in an interview given to a channel in the year 1991, confessed that he had killed 20 Hindus in Kashmir. He also confessed that he had done these murders with the death of his own friend Satish Tikku. Bitta said that at that time even if his master had asked him to kill his mother or brother, he would have killed them too.

It is pertinent to mention  here that more than 19 terrorism related cases were registered against Bitta Karate. Bitta was also arrested during the Amarnath land row in Jammu and Kashmir in 2008. Not only this, Bitta Karate spent nearly 16 years in jail and was released on bail by TADA court on 23 October 2006. After this, in the year 2017, Bitta Karate was arrested by the NIA in the terror funding case. Presently he is lodged in Tihar Jail.
