REAL PANACEA CCTV CAMERAS
The J&K administration has taken many steps to bolster security of the common man as targeted killings in almost all parts of the Union Territory is something which cannot be left on the mercy of God. Various things which have been ramped in the last few days after the surge in attacks on civilians include added security to villages and far off hamlets in Valley besides increase in night patrolling to instill confidence among the people as recent spurt in attacks on common people has developed fear psychosis among the masses. As the responsibility of the safety and security of people is on the government therefore many other steps have been taken and almost entire lot of terrorists involved in targeted killings have been eliminated and the cops are also confident that those who have committed these horrendous acts more recently have also been identified and sooner than later they will also be shown the doors of the other world or be lodged in dungeons across the UT. Another effective step which the government has envisaged to create an atmosphere of safety is going for CCTV cameras in almost all districts. In this context, the Jammu and Kashmir authorities have ordered business establishments, places of worship and markets in several districts to install CCTV cameras within 14 days, in a move aimed at deterring criminals, anti-social and anti-national elements. As far as Jammu District is concerned the District Magistrate Jammu Anshul Garg has asked the owners and Market Associations to install Close Circuit TV Cameras outside their business establishments in view of prevailing persistent threat, relating to recent increased incidents of selective targeting of the innocent citizens in Jammu and Kashmir by the anti-nationals and subversive elements. A similar order has also been issued by DM Reasi, Babila Rakwal. It has been asked to install the cameras in such a way that it should cover the approach areas at the entry and exit points of establishments/market association of shops and also entry and exit points of parking lots of the establishment/market association of shops up to a distance of 40 meters. It was also said that the facility should operate round the clock and the same is of good quality with features specified in the order in this regard. It is pertinent to mention that a CRPF jawan was killed and six people, including four migrant labourers and a Kashmiri Pandit, were injured in separate attacks by terrorists in Srinagar, Pulwama and Shopian districts recently.
