Mumbai : More than 20 people have lost their lives in two separate incidents of a wall collapse in Mumbai’s Chembur and Vikhroli areas following the heavy downpour, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said on Sunday morning.
At least 17 people have died after a wall collapsed on some shanties in Mumbai’s Chembur, while five people were killed in Vikhroli after a ground-plus-one residential building collapsed in Mumbai’s Vikhroli area in the wee hours today.
The rescue operations are underway at both sites.
Five bodies have been recovered and five to six more people are feared trapped in the debris of the building that collapsed in Mumbai’s Vikhroli, said Prashant Kadam, DCP.
