Director Skill Development reviews functioning of Polytechnic, ITI institutions of Jammu city
JAMMU, JUNE 30: Director Skill Development Jammu & Kashmir, Sudershan Kumar reviewed the functioning of polytechnic and ITI institutions of Jammu city.
The progress of projects being executed in Bikram Chowk Polytechnic and Woman Polytechnic, besides ITI Jammu and Women ITI Jammu, under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Capex, was reviewed besides inspected by the Director. The engineers of the executing agencies were asked to speed up the pace of work. The Heads of the Institutions were asked to closely monitor the progress of the projects so as to ensure that they are completed within the stipulated time frame.
Regarding the fresh admissions, the Heads of the Institutions were asked to undertake an extensive exercise and awareness campaign for encouraging the students to take admissions in these Polytechnics and ITIs by using different modes of communication like advertisements in local newspapers, FM stations, Cable TV and meeting the elected members of Rural and Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Head of Institutions were also asked to update their institutional websites and install complaint/ suggestion boxes and put in place a grievance redressal mechanism.
Special stress was laid on the immediate constitution of Placement cells in all the institutions working under the Directorate of Skill Development.
The functioning of CIIIT Jammu was also reviewed in Government Polytechnic Jammu. The Head of Institutes informed that the online classes are going on smoothly and about 75% of the syllabus has been completed.
