IRC provides accelerates relief distribution

Hands over masks to DRCCs for onward distribution among marginal section

SRINAGAR, JUNE 02: In its efforts to reach out to the marginal sections of the society, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRC) J&K today provided Hygiene Kits to the under privileged females of Haft Chinar, Solina and Allochi Bagh areas. The females were also educated about personal hygiene.

Meanwhile, to further accelerate its efforts to reach out to the downtrodden sections of the society and help them face the effects of Covid-19, the IRC shall distribute four lac masks in Jammu & Kashmir.

In this connection, today four District Red Cross Committees (DRCCs) i.e, Kupwara, Bandipora, Shopian and Pulwama were handed over ten thousand masks each district. The District Red Cross committees have been directed to distribute the masks free of cost to people. They were also provided 150 Hygiene Kits each District for distribution among poor women of the district.

The Indian Red Cross Society has also procured food material, which shall be distributed among the poor and needy families of Jammu & Kashmir regions.

In order to augment the Oxygen supply to Covid patients the IRCS shall be providing 100 Oxygen Concentrators within a day or two after finalizing the modalities about its distribution.

While handing over the relief material to district Red Cross Committees, Honorary General Secretary, IRCS Jammu & Kashmir Kifayat Hussain Rizvi emphasized the need to involve the Red Cross volunteers in the distribution of material. He further asked the regional as well as District Committees to reach out to downtrodden people of far flung areas as directed by the President of IRCS J&K unit.

He asked district committees to organize voluntary blood donation camps in the coming week particularly on ‘World Blood Donor Day’ which is being celebrated worldwide on 14 June, 2021.
