JAMMU, FEB 22: Continuing his endeavour to provide better civic and development amenities to the citizens of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor in presence of Advocate Purnima Sharma, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor, Sh Narinder Singh Hon’ble Chairman Health and Sanitation committee JMC today on 22/02/2021 inaugurated two new vehicles (Refuse Compactors) at Municipal Yard Manda Jammu. Sh Kishore Kumar Executive Engineer Division-II, Sh Amitabh Manhas Assistant Executive Engineer (mechanical) JMC, S Harvinder Singh I/c Chief Transport Officer, S Dharamveer Singh I/c Transport Officer, Sh Rakesh Bhatt I/c Transport Officer, S Hardeep Singh I/c Sanitation Officer and other field staff of Transport as well as Health Section were also remained present during the function which was held in a very sample manner. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that the limit of JMC has largely been extended after the inclusion of four new wards which mostly consists of large number of undeveloped villages and due to shortage of men and machinery, JMC is facing great hardships in providing better sanitation facilities to its citizens. But inspite of this, the transport/sanitation wing has been working hard and sufficient number of R.C Bins/trolleys have already been installed at the prominent places to collect garbage, filth etc emitting through these new wards as well as other wards of the city and told that JMC is very much on the job to procure more vehicles for collecting garbage in the wards of the city in making it neat, clean and green city. Hon’ble Deputy Mayor also spoke on the occasion and directed the Transport Section to utilize the services of these new refuse compactors in an effective manner so that the R.C bins which often remains filled with garbage waste materials and installed in the various wards of the city may be got thoroughly empty on daily basis and make it sure that the areas around these R.C bins be got cleared & remain garbage free and the locals & passersby may not suffer any more due to prevailing smell & unhygienic condition and told the general public that all the Municipal councilors are working hard from the last two & half years in providing best possible development & civic amenities to its citizens. Earlier Mayor in presence of Respected Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji, Sh. Vikram Randhawa, Ex MLC, Madam Tirath Kour Randhawa Councillor of ward no.58, also kick started the construction work of R.C.C culvert over the canal passing near Gurudwara at Digiana camp Jammu. Prof. Youdhveer Singh Councillor ward no. 73, Sardar Paramjeet Singh Pummy Ex. Councillor of ward no. 58, S. Surinder Sing, S. Avtar Singh, S. Bhupinder Singh, Sardar S.S Sasan alongwith other prominent inhabitants of Digiana & its adjoining localities as well as Sh. Sham Lal Puri Junior Engineer of Irrigation Department & its field staff and concerned contractor were also remained present there. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor said that it was the long pending demands of the locals as they were facing great hardships due to non-availability of any proper crossing for their to & fro journey to their destinations and due to sincere efforts of Councillor of the ward under the able guidance of Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji the construction work of the pully has last been started today by the Irrigation & Flood Control Department Jammu with an estimate cost of Rs 15 lacs.
Mayor was apprised by the concerned department that a protection wall alongside of canal towards residential locality will also be constructed from Gurudwara on the demands of the Hon’ble Councilor with an estimate cost of Rs 15 lacs only within the shortest period of time in order to protect the road/path from further damaged or sinking. He appeal to the general public to come forward & cooperate with JMC as well as other departments in all the development activities being undertaken in various parts of the city.
