With a view to maintain better sanitation and hygiene in the various markets of the city and also to stop disposal of garbage and other waste materials on the roads, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 08/02/2021, in presence of Sh. Gopal Gupta Councilor of ward no.5 and Madam Tina Mahajan Secretary (Nodal Officer of Solid waste Management) JMC distributed about 150 number of Dustbins among the shopkeepers of Rajinder Bazaar, Shahidi Chowk & Talab Khatikan area of ward no.5 Sh krishan Lal Gupta Chairman, Sh. Atul Raj Pal President, Sh. Raman Gandotra, General Secretary of Rajinder Bazar shopkeepers Association, Sheikh Hazoor Chairman Muslim United Front, Mubrak Khan, Mohshin Salaria, Jahangir Bhatt representatives of Talab Khatikan Shopkeepers association & other prominent residents of the ward as well as S. Hardeep Singh I/c Sanitation Officer, Shakeel Gill Sanitary Inspector & other supervisory staff of Health Section of JMC were also remained present during the function. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor told that the Jammu Municipal Corporation has already taken lot of initiatives under Swacch Bharat Mission to make the Jammu neat, clean & green city and also appeal to the shopkeepers, hoteliers and other businessmen not to throw garbage & other waste articles on the roads, public drains, lanes and corners and hand over the same only to the designated vehicles of JMC which has been kept exclusively for this purpose and he also make people aware of the fine & penalties to be imposed on defaulters and violators as per Municipal Bye-laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. The Market association assured the mayor, concerned councilor of the ward & other officers that they shall provide full cooperation to the sanitation staff for maintaining sanitation upto the satisfactory level. Mayor further appeal to the general public to come forward & join hands with JMC so that the aim of Swacch Bharat Mission can be achieved and assured the citizens that no stone shall be remained unturned in providing better sanitation facilities from its end.
