Samoon inspects progress of work on CIIIT at Govt Polytechnic College Jammu

Principal Secretary, Skill Development, Dr. Asgar Samoon, today inspected the progress of ongoing work on Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) being set up at Government Polytechnic College Jammu in association with Tata Technologies.

During the visit, the Principal Secretary inspected the CIIIT Buildings and stressed upon the officials for early completion of the ongoing works so that advanced courses in nine competence centers are made available to the students.

 

 

 

The CIIIT is a joint initiative of Government of Jammu & Kashmir and TATA Technologies through which 9 competency centers will be established at Government Polytechnic Colleges of Jammu to strengthen the industry-academia partnerships and training of students as per current and future requirements of the industries.

The CIIIT will also give boost to innovation, incubation and skill development in entire Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, these centers will offer industrial training to students, industry professionals and unemployed youth who want to upgrade their skills to latest technologies used in today’s modern Industrial environment.

Samoon also inspected the various departments of the Institution including Mechanical Engineering Department, Automobile Engineering Department, General Workshop, Library of the Institute and interacted with the staff and was satisfied with the infrastructure and functioning of the institute.

The Principal Secretary asked the management to hold auction of equipment /machinery, furniture and old damaged books which are in non-working condition. He further directed the engineers of PWD department to expedite the ongoing works such as construction of drainage system, Hostel building etc. He also directed to modernize the laboratories with latest machinery for the benefit of students.  The Principal Secretary also interacted with the faculty of the Institute and directed them to train the students as per the needs of industry so as to enhance their employability skills.

Dr Samoon said that the technical Education has a pivotal role to play in providing skill development training to the students to overcome the problem of unemployment in Jammu & Kashmir. He directed the staff to work with utmost efforts to ensure empowerment of youth by way of imparting requisite proficiency.

Director, Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai; Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, Arun Bangotra, HODs, officers from PWD department and other staff and students were also present on the occasion.
