Alleging that Army personnel dragged civilians out of their homes in the middle of night here and thrashed them, former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti said that it seems that this is centre vision for integrating J&K into India.
The comment by the former chief minister in previous PDP-BJP government comes a day after residents of Abanshah in Srinagar alleged that they have been thrashed by Army personnel every night since two soldiers were killed in a militant attack in the area last week.
“Army personnel drags civilians out of their homes in the middle of the night, thrash them with batons & then force these innocent men to chant ‘Jai Shree Ram’. Seems like this is GOI’s ‘vision’ for integrating J&K into India now,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. Ms Mehbooba also shared the article published in a local new portal which gives details about the alleged thrashing of civilians in the locality since the attack.
